The prestigious McKinley High School
Pantherettes represent one of the most established high school dancelines in
East Baton Rouge Parish. The line consists of a very talented group of young
ladies who are chosen each spring by a special audition and try-outs. The
Pantherettes are the premier dance line of McKinley High School.
While accompanying McKinley’s “Big Blue Machine” Marching Band, this danceline
has maintained a history of excellence on the MCK campus and abroad for
decades. Interested girls must be current or transferring McKinley students for
the fall semester. Due to the rigorous schedule and requirements, incoming freshmen are
not allowed on the squad. Those selected for this dance line must maintain and
uphold the standards of the school, and squad. Pantherettes must have and
maintain a 2.5 grade point average each grading period, in order to audition
and remain on the squad. Previous dance training is highly recommended. The
Pantherette Dance Team was formed as an extension of the band. The girls on our
team are held in high esteem by their peers as well as members of the
community. The Pantherettes are well-known for their high skill level and
school spirit.
